The Red Lion FC is a non-league side who have dreams of the big time. However, their manager, Kidd, will stop at nothing to realise his own ambitions of money and fame.

So, when a talented young player turns up for a trial, Kidd sees his golden opportunity. But Yates, the kit-man and club legend, has other ideas. A battle of wills ensues between Yates and Kidd over the future of Jordan and the future of the football club.

Following The Red Lion’s acclaimed, sell-out run in London’s West End, Rapture Theatre Company is delighted to present a brand new production of Patrick Marber’s hit comedy about “the beautiful game”. Emmerdale and Brookside actor John McArdle will lead an all-star cast in what promises to be a funny, touching and unmissable night at the theatre.

Produced by Rapture Theatre in association with The Palace Theatre in Kilmarnock.
Written by Patrick Marber.  Suitable for ages 12+

Join Director, Michael Emans and cast John McArdle, Brendan Charleston and Harry McMullen along with special guest Dan Armstrong from Queen of the South FC for a post show discussion after the performance of The Red Lion at Theatre Royal Dumfries.

This is a great opportunity to meet the cast and chat about the performance and how it reflects the highs and lows of the ‘beautiful game’ and the pressures clubs face on a weekly basis.

Director Michael Emans will also lead the discussion on Patrick Marber’s play and would welcome comments from the audience.

Rapture Theatre are pleased to be working in partnership with Show Racism the Red Card Scotland on these events.
