Our theatre is used by a variety of local groups and schools, many meeting here on a weekly basis.

Razzamataz meet at Theatre Royal Dumfries on Mondays during term-time.

Razzamataz Dumfries is proud to put the welfare of its students at the heart of everything it does. From providing affordable part-time performing arts training for children ages 2 to 18, to giving them access to some of the most talented performers through specialist workshops and classes, Razzamataz Dumfries uses theatre arts within small class sizes to nurture a child’s confidence and self-esteem, all while making sure they are having a lot of fun.

The Dumfries school was established in 2002 and offers Arts Awards Qualifications, authentic street dance, professional recording experience, auditions, specialist workshops with industry professionals such as Ashley Banjo, Diversity and Kerry Ellis and many exciting performance opportunities around the local community, London’s West End and Disneyland Paris! Affiliations include The Stage Newspaper (a prestigious Scholarship place), Top Talent Agency and First Choice. Students from Razzamataz Dumfries have gone on to forge successful careers within the performing arts genre.

JMB Creatives

The JMB Creatives are a group of young people aged 10-26 which work alongside the Peter Pan Moat Brae Trust to add a touch of magic to Moat Brae! Moat Brae house and garden, the birthplace of Peter Pan, are currently being restored and will be transformed into an inspirational Centre for Children’s Literature and Storytelling which will tell the story of how Peter Pan began and celebrate imagination and stories from across the world.

The JMB Creatives meet weekly, in the Theatre Royal, to share ideas, test out activities and work on a range of specific projects. We also offer volunteer opportunities for the group at events where they can gain experience and link this to their Saltire, Arts or Duke of Edinburgh Awards. The group are currently working towards producing Dreams for the Future 2018, our spectacular series of opening events at Moat Brae, designed to celebrate the talent and creativity of young people in the area.
