A Play, A pie and a Pint Presents The Infernal Serpent

Doors open to enjoy your pie and drink at 1pm and the show will start at 1.30pm and last for 50 minutes. 

Watch a new lunchtime play, whilst enjoying a local pie and drink brought to Dumfries & Galloway from Glasgows’ world-famous Oran Mor. Famous for telling stories from all over Scotland, this lunchtime theatre production is touring the region for the first time.

The Infernal Serpent

Meet Adam and Eve: devoted snake rights activists who are getting nowhere. When a charming stranger arrives with radical ideas, they’re forced to decide how far they’ll go for their cause. The Infernal Serpent puts a devilishly modern twist on an old story to consider why – and how – we protest. 

Written by Dave Gerow and directed by Beth Morton, the show is presented by A Play, a Pie and a Pint in association with Dumfries & Galloway Arts Festival. 

DAVE GEROW is back to A Play, a Pie and a Pint with his second play. His short fiction has appeared in Gutter, the Malahat Review, Planet, The Frogmore Papers, en bloc, The Cardiff Review, Hobart and elsewhere, and has been shortlisted for the Bridport Prize. He’s a PhD candidate in Creative Writing at the University of Glasgow. He has a lifelong fear of snakes. 

BETH MORTON is a director and theatre maker whose most recent works includes the reimagined After The Cuts (Raw Material); Flames (Tricky Hat); Where the Crow Flies (In Motion); #Unplugged (Platform); and After The Cuts, For The Lock of Chekov, Turns of the Tide (Oran Mor). She was associate director on Eric the Elf’s Chaotic Christmas (MacRobert Arts Centre); Glasgow Girls (Pachamama); and Janis Joplin:Full Tilt (Theatre Royal Stratford East) and has worked with the Tron Theatre, Manchester Royal Exchange, and the National Theatre of Scotland.

After running for 17 years, the founding principles of A Play, a Pie and a Pint remains steadfast – a new play at lunchtime every week that lasts no more than an hour, accompanied by a pie and a pint. They have worked with thousands of creatives over the years from both within Scotland and from across the world, producing work from first-time and emerging writers, as well as more established playwrights, supporting directors and actors at every stage of their career.
