Described as an 'improbable farce' Blithe Spirit by Noel Coward is set in a large country house where novelist Charles Condomine is researching his latest book. To aide him with his research Charles and his wife Ruth have invited a local medium Madame Arcati to hold a séance at his house.
Joining Charles and Ruth at the séance are Dr and Mrs Bradman and all is going well until Madame Arcati manages, rather unexpectedly, to summon the ghost of Charles’ first wife – Elvira who only Charles can see. Elvira makes continual attempts to disrupt Charles' marriage to his second wife, Ruth, who cannot see or hear the ghost.
