Bunbury Banter Young Playwrights 2021

AN EXCITING OPPORTUNITY FOR YOUNG PEOPLE AGED BETWEEN 16 - 25 YEARS, EITHER FROM OR BASED IN DUMFRIES AND GALLOWAY

The Bunbury Banter Theatre Company is looking for young people aged between 16-25 years, who are from or based in Dumfries and Galloway, and are interested in writing.

Over 12 months, the Young Playwrights programme will give writers an opportunity to develop their work within the theatrical medium and be encouraged and supported to experiment and develop their voice as playwrights.

The programme will involve regular workshops with some of the UK’s leading playwrights and theatre creatives, visits to see theatre productions, play readings, and access to resources, as well as mentoring with the company’s Artistic Director Ali Anderson-Dyer and the Bunbury Banter team.

The young people will be taken on a journey towards creating their final piece, which is then developed with professional actors and dramaturgical support at the end of the year, before being rehearsed and semi-staged for an invite-only audience.

Deadline for submissions: Monday 15th March, 5pm. Email: submissions@bunbanter.com

The Young Playwrights Programme is created in partnership with Theatre Royal Dumfries and Peter Pan Moat Brae and is funded by The Holywood Trust and Creative Scotland. It is supported by the Playwrights! Studio, Scotland and Dumfries And Galloway Arts Festival.
