CIMV'S Living Room Sessions are the flagship event that we produce. Working with musicians throughout Scotland and beyond we look into what made them get into music and what makes them tick, including looking into their influences and inspirations. Each event features an interview and performances which will be recorded and filmed live in front of a dedicated audience and then streamed around the world.

‘A musical force of unparalleled talent.’ Huff Post

‘Joyful, infectious and brilliant.’ Forbes

‘Pop music with purpose.’ The Village Voice

“This guy has really got something.. his sense of composition is wonderfully chaotic, but also really musical. When we first started working together, I was drowning in so many ideas.. it was almost like a challenge.’ Nile Rodgers

ONR is singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer born Robert Shields. Hailing from Dumfriesshire in South Scotland, Shields began playing music aged six, teaching himself on an old piano that lay neglected in his parent’s shed.

Shields soon began to write and arrange his own songs. Inspired and frustrated in equal measure by his isolated surrounds, he developed an anarchic style of writing and genre-switching production not anchored to any outside influences. He formed and toured extensively with the indie-pop group Finding Albert, the band being named ‘Best New Scottish Band or Solo Artist’ at the Scottish Variety Awards in 2012.

His distinctive compositions and vocals caught the attention of indie label I Feel Love in Los Angeles, and shortly after releasing his first independent singles, he signed to Warner Records in the US as artist/producer ONR, hailed as a “unique raw talent” by the label.

Shields began to tour across the UK, Europe and US, being tour support for acts such as Bastille, Lewis Capaldi and Jake Bugg. He was selected as one of BBC Introducing’s Great Escape acts, chosen for the BBC Hot List, and named as on of BBC Scotland Introducing’s Pick of 2021.

Shields’ capability soon caught the imagination of some of the world’s biggest acts and most respected musicians – most notably, the legendary producer and guitarist Nile Rodgers, who has became a huge supporter and collaborator with ONR, culminating in featuring on his track 'Kill TV'.

Rodgers said that working with Shields reminded him of working with Daft Punk:"It was almost like Daft Punk, I played one song and after they were like, 'Well, here's another one and here's another one,'" he says. "We got along so well.. it really felt like a partnership that he wanted me to work on other stuff too.” Nile Rodgers

ONR released his breakout track ‘Must Stop’ in late 2020 to huge acclaim and radio success - with support from Spotify, BBC Introducing, Billboard, Apple Music, as well as artists such as Bastille, Calvin Harris, Jake Bugg and of course, Nile Rodgers.
