’The Galloway Consort : ’Tapestry’ - a story based on The Royal Hunt of the Unicorn’ tapestries in Stirling Castle, told in music, song and newly imagined story. The weaving of tapestries and music were at creative heights in the 16th century, particularly in the Low Countries which exported excellence in both all round Europe.

In this programme the  group brings you music on viols, recorders, renaissance guitar and song : the text explores the makers and buyers of these extraordinary works and both hope and darkness in the tale of the unicorn and the maiden.

The Galloway Consort create a new programme each year in which they explore the rich repertoire of European courtly music, along with a text that places the music in its time by voicing particular characters.
