In our first outing since the Theatre closed for refurbishment, the Guild of Players are pleased to present “Bazaar and Rummage”, a play by Sue Townsend. (By arrangement with Samuel French). Sue Townsend is perhaps best known for her Adrian Mole, series but this play shows a different slice of life. Set in the eighties it charts, in a day, the lives of three agoraphobic women who have been persuaded by their volunteer “ex aggie” group leader Gwenda to come out and help run a jumble sale. The women, Katrina, a songstress, Bell Bell, an obsessionally clean agoraphobic and Margaret, a woman with an earthy sense of humour and choice of language, are very different despite their common problem. Gwenda is helped by Fliss, a trainee social worker, who is there as an observer. The result, thanks to Townsend’s acute and sensitive human observations, is a funny and poignant evening at the Theatre. We hope you will join us at one of the venues and be thoroughly entertained.
The performances will begin at 7.30 (Doors open at 7.00) and tickets are £6 for Members and £8 for Non Members.
